Benjamin Karol
My name is Ben, and I am the founder of White Coat Connectors, a network inspired by the family and community that raised me.
I grew up living next door to my grandparents, where there was a constant flow of family and friends between our homes, our community, and our family medical practice, Lowney Medical Associates. That closeness naturally sparked a love for medicine, which only grew as I began working as my Papa’s medical assistant. Although I didn’t realize it at the time, coming from a family of physicians gave me the unique privilege of feeling connected to medicine from a young age.
After four years of deep engagement with underserved communities in Western Massachusetts through UMass Amherst, I came to understand just how rare and powerful my experience had been.
That’s why I created this network: to offer that same opportunity to experience medicine as a force for connection to students who might not otherwise have it.
Together, we are working to build a future where every provider remembers the open door that welcomed them in—and chooses to leave their own door open in return. We hope to shape the journeys of future healers so that when they one day stand in white coats of their own and a student comes knocking, they offer the same "yes" they received from ours.
